The Convention
As we believe in partnership and coordinated work between all the militants of the Amazigh network for citizenship, we formulate a convention which frames the network’s work and sets the principles and goals, and draws the work steps as well as the network’s horizons.
1- The reference:
The Amazigh network for citizenship “ Azetta” takes the universal declarations and conventions of human and peoples’ rights in its universality and globality as a reference, namely:
The universal declaration of human rights.
The civil rights and the political, economic, social, and cultural rights conventions.
The African convention of human and peoples’ rights.
The Mexico convention.
The Agadir convention for the protection and promotion of the Amazigh language and culture .
The rights of the child’s convention.
The Barcelona convention.
2- The Principles:
Starting from this reference , the Amazigh network for citizenship fights in order to acknowledge the cultural, linguistic, economic, social, environmental and political rights of Moroccan people, based on the following principles and values:
the principles of majority, democracy, progressivism and independence.
the values of freedom, equality, reason, secularism and all the libertarian human values.
3-The commitments:
Since we behold the scientific analysis of the reality and as we believe in the legitimacy of militancy for the Amazigh cause in its globality, and the acknowledgment of democracy and citizenship we declare our commitment to :
Civil democratic militancy as a strategic choice.
Fighting for the Amazigh cause as a part of the democratic and progressive militant movements in the country, as well as standing by the democratic and independent Amazigh context.
Defending the Amazigh movement’s independence and the civil movement from all types of exclusion and oppression.
The establishment of citizenship and all human rights, while defending universal human values.
The building of an independent, militant civil society, and the enforcement of organizational coordination and integration.
Involvement in the social, economic and cultural development of the Moroccan people by means of partnership and democratic criteria.
Revitalizing the positive sides of Moroccan historical customs to coincide with social changes.
Rejecting all kinds of discrimination, be it due to sex, religion, language, color, race, opinion, or class difference.
Rejecting discrimination against women and assisting their participation based on equality between sexes in rights and duties.
Taking part in the building of a democratic, federal and secular government.
Continuing the enforcement of the Amazigh network for the citizenry’s internal democracy, and rejecting all kinds of fanaticism.
Rejecting every narrow political or partisan practice and protecting the network’s unity and independence.
Using organizational management mechanisms based on transparency.
Defending the cultural and linguistic rights of minorities in Morocco (Blacks, Jews), protecting them, and giving them respect.
Partnership and cooperative work with the Amazigh movement on the regional and international levels, and all the organizations in the dynamic against savage globalization.
Taking care of youth, protecting their rights, and promoting their inventions and creativity.
On the basis of the declaration of principles and the commitments issued from it, we, the Amazigh network for citizen militants, declare our commitment to what is stated in this convention.
